The Rocla Group's 2002 consolidated net sales for 2002 increased two percent over the 2001 results to EUR89.5 million (USD96.5 million).
Rocla, presenting its annual financial figures on January 30, reported consolidated operating profit EUR700,000 (USD754,880), compared to EUR5 million (USD5.39 million) in 2001.
The company said operational profit was "impaired" by a EUR2.2 million (USD2.37 million) loss incurred by Danish subsidiary Rocla A/S, and the subsequent depreciation of goodwill. Rocla announced in January that it had initiated an investigation into the financials of Rocla A/S.
Rocla's warehouse truck sales finished at EUR69.6 million (USD75 million), compared to the 2001 result of EUR72.9 million (USD78.6 million), due to lower demand, which forced a slow-down in production at Jarvenpaa. Net sales for the automated guided vehicles segment grew to EUR19.9 million (USD21.46 million), compared to EUR14.6 million (USD15.7 million) in 2001.
Rocla's workforce fell slightly from 463 employees at the end of 2001 to 459 at the end of 2002, of whom 115 worked outside Finland.
