Huge crowds at bauma 2019 |
With more than 620,000 visitors from over 200 countries, organisers say bauma 2019 generated the best results in the exhibition's 65-year history. The number of visitors rose by about 40,000 from the 2016 edition.
The number of exhibitors, 3,700 from 63 countries, set another record, spilling into 614,000 sqm of space.
During the 2019 edition, exhibitors unveiled a huge number of innovations and new products to the trade fair's global visitors. Among the successful exhibitors, Terex notched up some good orders, selling three 1,600 T Demag CC 8800-1 lattice boom crawler cranes and more than 20 AC 100-4L all-terrain cranes on a single day.
Dutch hire company Van Schaften Leasing ordered two Demag CC 8800-1 crawler cranes, while another will go to Integrated Holding Co. KSCP of Ahmadi, Kuwait.
The largest single order came from Mohammed F. S. Al-Tamimi, managing director for Fahad S. Al-Tamimi & Partners Company (FST), one of the leading crane and heavy equipment services business in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. FST ordered 21 Demag AC 100-4L all-terrain cranes.
The recently appointed Terex crane equipment distributor for Poland, Rumia-based Corleonis, made a sizeable investment in its tower crane fleet. The distributor signed an agreement for two Terex
CTT 202-10 flat top tower cranes as well as a CTT 132-6 and a CTT 162-8.
Peter Zauner and Wolfgang Hiebel, managing directors for Austria's XL-Kran Logistik GmbH, meanwhile, added a CTT 132-6 tower crane and three Terex CTT 91-5 flat top tower cranes.
Finally, Australia's Premier Cranes & Rigging placed an order for an AC 40/2L all-terrain crane.
Andreas Böhm, a member of the board of directors of Liebherr-International AG, confirms his company also "took orders from all parts of the world and made a whole lot of new contacts".
Riccardo Magni, president of Magni Telescopic Handlers, attributes the fair's success to "the experienced and professional visitors and the careful organization".
The clear focal point of this year's bauma was sustainable and digital solutions. Exhibitors agreed that digitalisation is a 'megatrend' in the construction machinery industry, says Andreas Klauser, CEO of PALFINGER AG. Sensors and communication interfaces that collect and analyse data have become standard equipment. Overall, machines and vehicles are becoming cleaner, quieter and more efficient. Many now have electric and hybrid drive systems.
Klaus Dittrich, chairman and CEO of Messe München, was more than satisfied with the results of bauma 2019: "For the industry, bauma is by far the world's most important innovation platform and economic engine, something that we clearly saw this year. Particularly in these times of sweeping technological change that is being triggered by digitalisation, bauma provides the industry with security and confidence.
"Thanks to the momentum in demand generated by the fair's seven days, companies will be able to calmly face economic slowdowns. bauma 2019 highlighted the opportunity and tremendous outlook of the industry as a whole."
The next bauma will be held from 4 to 10 April 2022, at the Messe München Exhibition Centre.
