The Association of Equipment Manufacturers' (AEM) Publications in Construction and Agriculture (PICA) subgroup, has named Jane Cooper, of Cooper Hong Inc, in St Charles, Illinois, as its public relations person of the year.

PICA publications' senior editors chose Cooper as an "outstanding example of best practices in media relations". The criteria used to rank nominees include reliability, accuracy, quality of information provided, trustworthiness, integrity and level of experience about their company, products and industry.

PICA is one of AEM's product-specific working groups. It promotes high operating standards among off-road equipment manufacturing industry trade media worldwide and fosters continuing educational and informational exchanges between manufacturers, industry suppliers and trade media.

The working group also sponsors AEM's "Measures of Success" marketing awards program to recognise excellence in off-road equipment marketing communications.

This year's special award of excellence under the "Measures of Success" program for the highest overall score went to Sandvik, of Smyrna, Georgia, with Rhea & Kaiser, of Naperville, Illinois, for its entry in the "direct mail single piece category" in the "over USD50 million sales division".

Doosan Infracore America, of Suwanee, Georgia, with Bigelow Advertising, Atlanta, Georgia, won first prizes for the "direct mail campaign" and "magazine ad - series" categories in the more than USD50 million division.

Other award categories include magazine ads, product literature, direct mail and press kits that are broken out by sales divisions (over/under USD50 million).
