Palletless handling with ROLLERFORKS®-LIFTERS

Why continue to use pallets to transport freight?

A survey by Capgemini showed that the costs of pallet swapping in the Netherlands amounted to 120 million euro per annum*). These costs were largely incurred through the practice of sending back empty pallets and the associated physical and administrative procedures. MSE-FORKS introduces an electric pallet truck with integrated ROLLERFORKS®, which makes it possible to dispense with the pallet during road transport.

Since the introduction of the patented ROLLERFORKS® in 2003, MSE-FORKS has opted to develop more equipment for palletless (slipsheet) transport. De ROLLERFORKS®, are lift truck forks with two layers of rollers. If the lower roller comes into contact with the floor, the upper rollers are driven in the opposite direction when the ROLLERFORKS® are pushed by a lift truck. The ROLLERFORKS® are used to load and unload goods on slipsheets.

The freight often consists of a single unit and is not stacked. For stacked goods, we have developed the ROLLER-PushPull. Both systems are mainly used for loading and unloading containers, and they are fitted to counterbalanced lift trucks.

If the pallet could also be dispensed with during road transport, this would result in huge savings. Companies wishing to switch to palletless transport do not all have counterbalanced trucks. This is either because of the high investment cost or simply because the lift truck's weight or turning circle (with front attachments) are not suitable for the available premises. Apart from that, the cargo floors of the lorries have to be able to take this heavy combination. Frequently companies only have simple pallet trucks that may or may not be electrically driven.

For these situations, MSE-FORKS has developed its patented ROLLERFORKS®- LIFTER. These are electric stackers that incorporate the ROLLERFORKS® principle. It is a fairly simple matter to fit the electric stackers with supporting legs, over which extended forks with a roller group can operate. The ROLLERFORKS®-LIFTER can be delivered in two versions, specifically for handling slipsheets, available in August 2012 and for thin carriers like Optiledge® or thin cardboard pallets which is directly available. The ROLLERFORKS®-LIFTER principle is entirely mechanical and it can be fitted to virtually any (brand of) electric stacker/lifter.

IMPORTANT:

Please do contact your authorised lift truck supplier. The adaptation can only be made with the original lift truck manufacturer's approval in connection with CE directives and stability tests. The list below shows which brands and models have already been approved.
