Paling Transporter started as a truck and heavy equipment repair and service provider over 20 years ago and has evolved into a heavy transporter and forklift manufacturer.
In the early 1980s, Paling was asked to service a fleet of 200-ton transport vehicles for a steel-making facility. After identifying the fleet's design deficiencies and observing the high repair costs, Paling saw an opportunity to engineer and manufacture its own transport units that could withstand the handling challenges of the steel mill.
One year later, Paling completed the prototype of its transporter and delivered it to the steel mill to evaluate in a 24/7 operation. The unit is still operating after over 200,000 hours of reliable uptime.
The first Paling Transporter customer quickly embraced the unit and soon after, Paling delivered similar units to other major steel-making operations around the world.
In early 2000, Paling was approached by a third-party steel recycling company to develop a 40-ton forklift for handling a large load in a challenging environment. Paling had planned to enter the forklift market to complement its steel coil transporters. The new challenges spurred Paling to develop its forklift product.
The forklift was built on the same philosophy as the transporter, i.e., innovation, quality, durability, safety, productivity, profitability and low operational costs.
Paling's forklifts are available in 25- to 60-ton capacities and are used in steel-making, oil and gas and port handling operations.
The forklifts and transporters are designed, manufactured and distributed from Paling's manufacturing plant in Hamilton, Ontario.
