The latest battery fleet management software from EnerSys provides 4 key areas to manage your battery fleet.

First in, first out battery rotation (FIFO).
PowerNet management means that battery utilisation is maximised across the entire fleet and the need to dedicate batteries to specific trucks is eliminated. Battery charging and rotation as well as equalisation charging is managed and this results in reduced battery charging time and improved battery service life.

The software can be used with up to 10 battery families and 500+ chargers. Each battery family and truck type is given a name and the data is displayed on a battery room screen showing next battery, batteries available, batteries equalisation charging and defaults. Communication between chargers and the PC is automatic. No data input is required. Battery selection is simple; truck drivers just need to look at a screen to select the next battery.

Management Reports.
Useful management reports are available as part of the software package:
  • Charge analysis to view number of complete/incomplete/equalisation charges/charging errors.

  • Alarm history - wrong battery selected

  • Minimum/maximum charged batteries available and number of battery changes.

  • Fleet utilisation and battery depth of discharge.

  • Power consumption graphs and record of automatic charger off/on events.
Power Demand Management.
The system can be programmed to manage the total power used in a battery room and eliminate costly spikes in demand. PowerNet runs on a standard PC and automatically switches chargers on and off at the optimum time to maintain electricity consumption within desired parameters. Different power thresholds can be set for certain times of the day and night - thus taking advantage of off-peak electricity rates and avoiding peak rate charges.

Remote Access.
The PowerNet program can be accessed remotely via the users LAN or telephone infrastructure. This is an ideal tool for management to view 'live data' from any location whether it be an office on the same site, a different geographical location within the UK or even another country. This enables multi-site battery fleet management at the click of your mouse.

This system is what everyone working in motive power has been waiting for. The goal in battery management is to minimise power consumption while at the same time getting optimum performance and service life from your batteries.

With the power efficiency and intelligence of the Hawker HF chargers and the overall fleet management capability of PowerNet, significant cost savings can be made and companies' carbon footprints minimised.
