More than 80 new and used forklifts will be auctioned off next month by Ritchie Bros at its customer site in British Columbia, Canada.

Ritchie Bros will be holding the auction for Leavitt Machinery at its used equipment branch at 24389 Fraser Highway in Langley on October 5.

"We hold five regular auctions at our Surrey sale site each year, but sometimes our customers are better served by an offsite auction," says Jake Lawson, Ritchie Bros area manager. "We'll be selling more than 120 forklifts, telescopic handlers, scissor lifts, skid steers and boom lifts for Leavitt Machinery,"

Leavitt Machinery's used equipment branch recently relocated to Langley from Abbotsford. Among the equipment on offer are more than 80 forklifts including a new 2007 Hyundai HD70 (15,000 lb/6,804.0lbs capacity), a new 2007 HLF25 and two new 2007 Hyundai HLF15, all with full factory warranty; over 15 telescopic handlers including a 2003 Cat TH83 and a 2000 Skytrak 10054; and more than 15 aerial boom lifts including a 2002 JLG 450AJ and several good quality JLG 600AJs.

Coquitlam-based Leavitt Machinery leases and sells new and used materials handling and aerial equipment from 20 locations in British Columbia, Alberta and Washington State in the US.

Leavitt equipment manager Bob McIntosh says the company is excited to show off its new location and its products. "We're selling equipment that is in demand in the marketplace right now. Most of it is late model; some is unused. This is equipment that people will be able to put to work straight away," he explains.

The offsite auction follows the auctioneer's first combined unreserved industrial auction held last week. Day one of Ritchie Bros' September 3 to 4 Dubai auction was combined with the Singapore auction.

Branch manager Stephen Branch says Ritchie Bros' research showed equipment sold in Singapore was suitable for export to the Middle East.

"The [heavy] equipment that was consigned in the Singapore auction was among the equipment that is in highest demand, and we were confident that there would be a ready market for that equipment in the Middle East specifically."

Over 80 forklifts were sold in the Dubai auction from manufacturers like Toyota, Mitsubishi, TCM, Caterpillar and Hyster. An onsite bidder from Papua New Guinea bought a 1997 Toyota 2FD135 13.5-ton (13.7 tonne) forklift for USD30,000.
