Mobile Industries Inc. has been serving the world materials handling equipment market for almost half a century. As a leading manufacturer of pallet trucks, stackers, self-propelled equipment and allied products, Mobile realized very early on that a local geographic presence is not just important, but an absolute necessity. Many manufacturers rely solely on their main manufacturing facility as their F.O.B. shipping point. This can be effective but is very limiting potentially resulting in increased freight costs. Others depend on their dealer network to stock and distribute their products. This also presents drawbacks as it is reliant on long tern relationships and runs the risk of dealer conflicts. Mobile has always supported its dealers by having inventory readily available in a variety of strategic warehouse locations.
Mobile originated in Canada and has supplied the Canadian marketplace via its manufacturing facility in Toronto and a warehouse facility in Montreal. The next logical step in Mobile's evolution was the U.S. market which required various warehouse locations to successfully service such a large area. Originally Mobile utilized independently owned warehouse facilities throughout the country which provided adequate, albeit limited, services.
Customer service has always been Mobile's number one priority and believed that there was a way to improve this facet of the business.
Accordingly, a strategic alliance was struck with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. Hellmann has hundreds of warehousing facilities located in over 130 countries worldwide. Their knowledge of warehousing procedures and transportation logistics was a natural fit. Studying the most popular shipping lanes, Mobile settled on facilities in Chicago, Charlotte and Los Angeles for stocking standard products. Coupled with a cross dock facility in Buffalo for shipping custom products directly from the factory, Mobile is able to efficiently serve the entire U.S. market with ease.
Several years ago, Mobile escalated its global expansion by establishing a joint venture partnership with a Chinese manufacturer to build additional Mobile products overseas. This has resulted in an expanded global market and required the implementation of an international warehouse network. Again utilizing the Hellmann partnership, Mobile established a central Europe warehouse in Rotterdam and most recently added Barcelona to its stable with plans to expand to the Middle East and South America. Mobile is a global company that continues to grow and is confident that with partners such as Hellmann, will be able to provide services like a hometown supplier.
