Electrovaya and Hangcha establish new sitesOntario-headquartered battery producer and developer Eletrovaya has established a new subsidiary in Japan.
Electrovaya produces lithium-ion batteries and battery systems for energy storage and heavy-duty electric vehicles.
“The new entity, Electrovaya Japan, will serve as a local platform to expand the company’s commercial activities and to support its growing customer base and strategic relationships across the Japanese market,” Electrovaya says in a statement.
“Over the past few years, Electrovaya has developed strong partnerships and has successfully sold advanced battery products to customers in Japan for both the local and global markets.
“The creation of a local subsidiary marks the next phase in the company’s international growth strategy, enabling closer collaboration with Japanese OEMs, business and technology partners.”
The Japanese subsidiary is expected to facilitate customer support, technical integration, and business development efforts for Electrovaya’s Infinity Battery Technology.
Electrovaya has two operating sites in Canada and has acquired a 52-acre site with a 12,542sqm manufacturing facility in New York state for its planned gigafactory.
Meanwhile, Hangcha has continued to grow its presence quickly on the international market, opening its new European Hub, a larger warehouse and office space, in Almere, the Netherlands.
“This strategic relocation doubles the company’s local warehouse capacity, establishing a key European hub for parts and after-sales services,” the company states.
“The facility holds extensive spare parts and forklifts inventory to enable next-day parts delivery across the EU.
“It marks a key step in Hangcha Group’s global network development, which includes over 20 overseas subsidiaries and a planned overseas production base in 2025.”
In September Hangcha opened its latest site in Japan, having established new sites this year in Mexico, US, Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
