Plug Power and GH2 sign Brazilian agreement

Brazilian company GH2 Global is partnering with New York-headquartered Plug Power to accelerate the use of hydrogen-powered materials handling equipment throughout the South American nation.

The partnership combines Plug Power’s portfolio of hydrogen technologies with GH2 Global’s access to the Brazilian materials handling sector, to offer complete hydrogen fuel cell systems for materials handling equipment.

Under the agreement, Plug Power will supply the hydrogen fuel cells and associated infrastructure, while GH2 will be responsible for the integration of projects, licensing processes and alignment with Brazil's renewable network.

The initial focus will be on large logistics and industrial businesses in Brazil.

Andy Marsh, CEO of Plug Power, says Brazil has shown it is prepared to become a global leader in green hydrogen.

“The partnership with GH2 allows us to take our already consolidated hydrogen technology and our production capabilities to a market rich in renewable resources and industrial demand,” Marsh adds.

GH2’s global director, Augusto Bias Daré Junior, says: “Brazil’s renewable backbone makes it one of the most competitive markets in the world for the adoption of hydrogen”.

“Our partnership with Plug Power allows us to combine cutting-edge technologies in fuel cells and hydrogen production with our local capacity to execute projects, ensuring scalable and economically viable hydrogen logistics solutions for warehouses, factories and distribution networks throughout the national territory,” he continues.

Plug Power says the partnership with GH2 supports its global goal of enabling the use of 1,000T daily of green hydrogen by 2028.
