The old and new Big Joe walkie stackersIn our feel good story for the week, we report on a donation from Wisconsin-headquartered Big Forklifts to the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Engineering, after discovering the institution was still using one of its 1960s walkie stackers.
Also, as Forkliftaction continues to celebrate its 25th anniversary, we are highlighting stories each week on the website from our archives. This week, we revisit the beginnings of the 2009 partnership between Jungheinrich and the former Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc. (MCFA)—a move which stirred controversy among existing dealers.
In 2020, MCFA was integrated into Mitsubishi Logisnext Americas (MLA) alongside UniCarriers Americas, streamlining operations under a unified brand. The following year, Caterpillar sold its minority stake in MCFA to MLA.
MLA still manufactures and distributes Jungheinrich’s equipment in North America.
