Forkliftaction's forums get an upgrade

Clocking over 98,000 visits a week, our industry forums are an integral part of the success of our platform.

Over the past few months, the team at Forkliftaction has been working on a major upgrade to enhance troubleshooting, search and navigation, and to recognise the amazing commitment of our top contributors.

Planning for the changes began, as usual, with a simple idea: "Wouldn’t it be nice if techs could upload a photo of the machine they are working on?"

But of course, good ideas tend to bring along friends, and we’ve taken the opportunity to make a number of key additions and upgrades.

Here’s a quick rundown on what’s changed:

ADD PHOTOS TO YOUR POSTS

Now forum users can upload up to 2x photos with every post. This new feature is not only a great aid to your engineering queries and mechanical troubleshooting, but is available on any type of post.

Just follow the prompts when creating your new post:

Your image(s) will be pending until approved by our forum moderators. You will be notified of the approval decision within hours.

Once approved your image(s) will show up inside your post. Click on the image to load it in full size.

Discussions with an image in the first post have the camera icon in the forum list:

TWO WAYS TO SEARCH FOR A SPECIFIC BRAND/MODEL

We’ve launched a new user-friendly SEARCH & NAVIGATION feature which allows you to search easily for a specific brand or model, alongside keyword(s). Choose whether to limit your search to a specific forum.

But, for those of you who prefer it old-school, you can still search the old alphabetical ‘Posts by Brand’ list - we didn’t get rid of it!

BRAND AND MODEL TAGGING NOT LIMITED TO MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING POSTS!

Tagging a brand and model in your post is not just an option in technical posts, but in each of the five forums

The new tagging is designed so that multiple brands/models can be tagged in a post and you can easily find and access all types of posts about a brand/model across all the forums:

Use the SEARCH feature, or click on the orange brand/model name tag to find all relevant discussions about a specific brand/model:

RECOGNITION FOR OUR TOP CONTRIBUTORS

Every day we see forum users going out of their way to help people with their questions. So, we thought we’d like to recognise the significant time invested by our top contributors, a small thank-you for continued efforts!

Top contributors have posted numerous times in the past 365 days and shared expertise, tips and opinions with our community:

ALL TECHNICAL DISCUSSIONS MERGED INTO ONE

You may also notice we’ve done some work to remove duplicate brand names and generally tidy up a bit.

We moved all discussions about everything and anything technical, about troubleshooting, maintenance, engineering and design, into one single forum: ‘MAINTENANCE & TROUBLESHOOTING’.

Gone is the old DESIGN & ENGINEERING forum, with those ‘rogue’ technical troubleshooting questions ;)

That’s the crux of it. Please let us know what you think or if you have any questions! Your feedback is important to us, and it will help ensure this space remains user-friendly, easy to navigate and helpful.
