Electrical wire and cable manufacturer Southwire will pilot Ready Robotics automation solutions, including automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), at five of its facilities.

Southwire’s facilities in Villa Rica and Carrollton in Georgia, Florence, Alabama and Bremen, Indiana will participate in the automation pilot.

To prepare for the project, Ready Robotics conducted an automation readiness assessment (ARA) to identify potential automation opportunities.

“Our partnership with Ready Robotics supports our ongoing assessment and initiative to provide a safe environment for all team members,” says Se Oh, Southwire’s vice president of operations sustainability. 

“Through close collaboration between Ready Robotics and our Modernisation, Health and Safety and Packaging Engineering teams, we plan to cultivate material handling safety and related automation for our existing assets and future investments.”
