Next Tuesday (June 9), industry professionals on both sides of the Atlantic will mark Forklift Safety Day.
It will be the seventh anniversary of National Forklift Safety Day in the United States, while the United Kingdom will observe the day for the second time.
Of course, at this time, the world is fixated on a broader safety issue - COVID-19, which is changing work practices and even workplace design and operation. This global public health challenge is absorbing a huge amount of attention and funding, but we have to assume that the battle against the coronavirus will soon be won.
The fight for safe work places will, however, continue - and the growing forklift fleets in manufacturing, distribution and construction will pose ongoing threats.
To borrow a line from my favourite '80s TV show, Hill Street Blues, "let's be careful out there!"
