It may be a fitting end to the Omega Lift saga. The intellectual property and remaining stock and parts of the failed Canadian manufacturer have ended up with one of Ontario's success stories, Liftking Manufacturing Corp.
Interestingly, the acquisition of the Omega assets from the company's liquidator comes just a couple of weeks after Liftking itself was sold. Last month, Manitex International sold its Liftking rough-terrain forklift subsidiary to the LANCO group of companies, parent of Mi-Jack Products.
All eyes will be on Liftking to see what it does with the Omega designs - and the interest will be more than academic for the owners of current Omega products who have been in limbo for some time, unable to get parts or service for their machines.
We'll be watching with interest.
