Atlet has won a contract to supply 153 forklifts to a nine hectare (90,000 square metre) national distribution centre (NDC) of one of the UK's top 10 supermarket chains.
The forklift fleet, comprising 32 high-lift UHS Tergo reach trucks, 23 Presto PLP pallet transporters and 98 Select TPD low-level order pickers, will work in Somerfield's NDC, in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, UK.
One reason Somerfield chose Atlet was the service and maintenance support Atlet provided that covered not only the new forklifts but the site's existing counterbalance trucks and cleaning machines, Atlet said in a statement.
The 27,900 square metre NDC warehouse has more than 33,000 racked pallet locations that hold mainly slow-moving non-grocery items.
Operating seven days a week, the NDC supplies Somerfield stores and Kwiksafe outlets throughout the UK. Around 820,000 cases are picked each week.
Atlet would not disclose the value of the order.
