Nyrstar will add three Kalmar terminal tractors
Kalmar has concluded an agreement with global metals business Nyrstar to supply three heavy terminal tractors for the company's Australian operations. The order is scheduled for delivery in Q4 2020 and follows an earlier order for two reachstackers.

One of the machines is destined for the Nyrstar Port Pirie smelter on the eastern shore of the Spencer Gulf in South Australia, an integrated multi-metals recovery plant, and two are for the Nyrstar Hobart smelter in Tasmania.

All three machines are Kalmar's heavy-duty TR618i design, and will be fitted with engines that comply with EU Stage V emissions standards. The TR619i features an all-welded steel chassis and a lifting capacity on the fifth wheel of 32 T.

The terminal tractors will be used for moving raw and processed materials.

Paul Redman, head of logistics and contractor management at Nyrstar Port Pirie, says his company is investing in its plants in Australia in order to improve logistics.
