The Workplace Health and Safety Show 2018, presented by International Exhibition and Conference Group in conjunction with the Safety Institute of Australia, have announced two new exciting additions: a new interactive Live Action Theatre, and a Free Education Program, as part of the FREE two-day program for #SAFETYSCAPE. (23-24 May).

The Workplace Health & Safety Show is the official exhibition of the inaugural #SAFETYSCAPE Convention. An initiative of the highly respected Safety Institute of Australia, the peak body in Australia representing OHS safety professionals, #SAFETYSCAPE is a brand new program of events, workshops, forums, seminars and conferences.
Live Action TheatreInternational Exhibition and Conference Group CEO, Marie Kinsella said she was thrilled to bring a new interactive element to the show.
"These two-way sessions are the perfect opportunity to openly collaborate with special guests, industry influencers and field experts alike, diving into often-taboo workplace issues," said Marie.
"We hope this new program encourages a greater level of understanding with show-goers, as they engage with the most crucial issues in the health and safety world, in thought-provoking new ways," she said.
Crikey founder Stephen Mayne and sexual assault activist Nikki Keating will speak at Lessons Learnt from the Robert Doyle Sexual Harassment Case (23 May). The interactive panel will generate important conversation centred on recent sexual assault controversy, including challenges for victims, and handling workplace complaints.

"Sexual harassment is a serious matter. A 2017 survey by the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed that half of all women, and a quarter of all men, have experienced sexual harassment at some point in their lives," said Marie.
Q&A legend and agony aunt Renata Musolino (The Victorian Trades Hall Council) will engage in a live stage version of her popular "Ask Renata" web segment (23 May). Answering questions directly from audience members, the discussion will shed light on how to navigate the often-fiery relationships between OHS representatives and employers.
"Renata is renowned for her Ask Renata segment, consistently providing invaluable advice on a range of OHS issues over the past 18 years. The Live Action Theatre is an excellent opportunity to watch her bring her new webinar series to life on stage," said Marie.
Director of ACT Australia and New Zealand Susan Fleming will inject her vibrant experience in action film production into two safety theatre workshop sessions. Risk Assessment, Hazard Awareness and the Culture of Speaking Up (24 May) is a high-impact piece fostering speak up culture, and The Skills Needed to Build an Agile Team and Why It Is So Important (24 May) transposes the theatre art of improvisation into a valuable safety skill.
"From working with iconic action movie star Dolph Lundgren, to her involvement as board member for International Skills and Training Institute in Health, Women In Oil and Gas and the Child Safety Foundation, Susan Fleming's commitment to health and safety is unparalleled," said Marie.

Probuild: Humanising Safety - Tapping into the Emotional Drivers of Behavioural Change, Jen Jacksyn and
Sarah Cuscadden will share activities and insights from the Probuild Building Safety Greatness Program. This interactive session will introduce ways of identifying what employees value about safety, and how to develop contemporary approaches.
Audiences will also catch thrilling demonstrations of the latest safety innovations from industry movers and shakers (23 - 24 May). First aid providers Premium Health will present Shock Tactics: the link between quality and outcome (24 May), with National Training Manager Thomas Howell exploring the critical relationship between CPR quality, early defribrillation and patient survival through an exhilarating simulation exercise.
"It's one thing to discover the latest innovative technologies from groundbreaking exhibitors at the show, but the thrilling demonstrations are a new, inspiring way to directly engage with these these great developments," said Marie.
The Practical & Effective Ergonomics Programs - Six Tips You Can Implement Tomorrow session (24 May) will be led by Dohrmann Consulting's Managing Director Ted Dohrmann. The live discussion will share insider knowledge on what a quality, evidence-based ergonomics program looks like, and includes six take-away improvement points to implement immediately.
Free Education ProgramWorkplace health and wellbeing take centre stage in the highly anticipated Free Education Program. The line-up features 14 insightful talks led by industry professionals shedding light on workplace mental health, groundbreaking new technologies, and navigating ever-changing safety standards.
Mental wellbeing is one of Australia's most burning issues. Research has found work-related stress causes a staggering 92% of all work-related mental disorder claims. It is not surprising that prestigious auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers found that the associated productivity losses result in 12 million days of reduced productivity yearly, costing Australian employers a whopping $6 billion per annum.
"There's no such thing as a quick fix when it comes to fostering a healthy work environment. It takes careful planning for long-term solutions, with the right policies and programs firmly in place," said Marie.
"Everyone knows that mentally well workers are the most productive."
The Free Education Program is divided into two streams: Health Hub, tackling a previously taboo topic and facing issues head on to keep staff happy and healthy; and the Safety Spot, exploring the very forefront of safety solutions with the latest industry technologies and developments.
Nick Tindley, Partner with FCB Workplace Law and Executive Manager of HR Consulting and Advisory Services at leading workplace relations specialists, FCB Group will present Mental Illness - Knowing Your Rights As An Employer (23 May). The fascinating discussion will explore holistic approaches to preventing mental problems before they develop.

Managing Stress and Anxiety - Ways To Help Your Team (23 May) will demystify the oft-hidden symptoms of stress and anxiety in workers. The talk will be presented by Samuel Eddy, a Mental Health Expert at Open Change, known for providing innovative solutions to workplace wellbeing to clients including Westpac and Coles.

Men's Health and Wellbeing - Looking After Your Employees (24 May) will feature renowned wellbeing expert Merv Neal. Recently awarded the Australian Professional Speakers Academy's Mentor of the Year, Merv will lend his engaging charm to unpacking the complex nature of male physiology in the workplace.
"As a veteran in this industry, it is an extraordinary program," said Marie.
