UniCarriers Americas Corporation has successfully piloted a new UniVersal Service program in Louisville, Kentucky.

The program provides for factory service to be performed onsite by a manufacturer-educated master technician.

"This new program gives factory support to service a customer's entire materials handling fleet, regardless of location or equipment brand. This program also provides dealers in the nearby areas with sales opportunities previously beyond their reach by offering service support to their customers," says Dan Domberg, vice president, aftermarket and customer satisfaction for UniCarriers Americas.

Domberg tells Forkliftaction.com News that the strategy will be rolled out in 'vacant territories'.

"This program will ... make it easier for dealers to sell lift trucks to customers with operations in those vacant territories because they will be able to have them serviced by factory-trained technicians," he says, indicating that the factory-backed service will not compete with dealers' service offerings.

"The goal of this program is to provide service in areas where dealer service may not be (available) nearby."

The program is currently available in the Louisville area, but additional areas are being considered.
