Jungheinrich AG's plant in Landsberg, Germany, near the city of Halle, produced its 100,000th vehicle this month

The EJE 118 pedestrian-controlled pallet truck rolled off the production line in mid-October, and the manufacturer says the battery-powered, low-platform forklift has "made a name for itself as a highly economical tool" for loading and unloading, and transporting goods over short distances.

Earmarked for delivery to the Jungheinrich branch in Poland, the truck was the star attraction of a small party organised by plant management.

"This is our thank you to all staff members for their professional performance," said Dr Marc Ehrmann, head of the Jungheinrich Landsberg plant, adding that he was proud of the team.

The EUR30 million (USD38 million) Landsberg plant opened in 2009. Initially, only type EJE pedestrian-controlled pallet trucks were produced there, but in the subsequent months Jungheinrich transferred its low-platform truck production entirely to Landsberg. The Jungheinrich low-platform truck was originally produced in the Norderstedt plant.

Today, over 20,000 trucks are produced annually at the Landsberg plant. The plant relies on "state-of-the-art, innovative and environmentally friendly production facilities". About 150 staff members are employed in the areas of development, purchasing, quality, production and logistics. The team also has five trainees who are receiving their initial career training as industrial mechanics.

Ehrmann says that Jungheinrich Landsberg is perceived as "an attractive employer", adding that the plant will grow even further in the future. "To this end we are continually interested in finding highly qualified, highly motivated workers who are interested in contributing to our success story."
