Preparations are under way for this year's Forklift Championship. |
Preparations have begun for this year's Forklift Championship, which will be held in Brisbane in November.
The organiser, the Australian Warehousing Association (AusWA), says this year's event will focus on safe operation in a small area, where hand- and eye-co-ordination are tested to the maximum.
The challenge will be based on the national standards for forklift operation. Every contestant will need to hold a photo identification license with an expiry date.
AusWa will provide all nominating companies with a competition course layout to test their forklift operators' knowledge and skills. All contestants will need to register and pay a nomination fee. The contestants will need to complete the course within a set time frame. Two qualified assessors will score each contestant against a standard.
According to AusWA, every year the number of female forklift contestants grows and judges have been impressed with the quality of driving with only a few points' variation between the top male and female.
