Atlantic markets Doosan's first-generation hand pallet

An industrial services company saw an opportunity to establish a business for forklift sales, rentals, service, repairs and parts and has linked with the Doosan international brand.

Air Components & Systems Ltd in Charlotte handles the sales and service of air compressors from Ingersoll Rand plc of Swords, Ireland in five US states including North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Virginia. Air Components was established in 1985.

Air Components' majority ownership "formed Atlantic Forklift Services LLC as a new entity to serve a new market with a great product", says Keith Driscoll, president of Atlantic Forklift Services, also in Charlotte. The owners saw that the forklift and compressor industries complement each other on basics such as group sales, rentals, service, repairs and parts.

"The customer base and business model are very similar," Driscoll notes. "The expertise learned and shared with customers at Air Components can be shared with Atlantic Forklift Services."

During 2013, Doosan Industrial Vehicle America Corp (DIVAC) of Suwanee, Georgia awarded a contract to Atlantic Forklift Services in July, and the dealership began business activities in September. Atlantic Forklift represents Doosan in 36 counties in North Carolina and 21 counties in South Carolina.

"We would not have done this without the support of a great company like Doosan," Driscoll says. "We are a partner with Doosan to serve customers in our market."

Atlantic Forklift has 11 employees and occupies 50,000 sqft. (4,645 sqm).

Within the Doosan Industrial Vehicle product line, Atlantic Forklift and others are promoting the equipment maker's first-generation hand pallet with load capacity of 5,500 lb. (2,475 kg) and an unloaded weight of 202 lb. (91 kg).
