A Houston facility of TimkenSteel Corp has acquired five C17300 multi-directional forklifts from Combilift Ltd of Gallinagh in County Monaghan in Ireland. The machines became operational during 2014's first quarter.
The TimkenSteel contract with Combilift has a value of about USD600,000, according to Richard Bruton, Ireland's minister for jobs, enterprise and innovation.
A TimkenSteel operation, Timken Boring Specialties LLC, uses the forklifts to transfer solid bar stock.
Parent firm Timken Co of Canton, Ohio filed in February to spin off its steel business subsidiary into an independent publicly traded company.
When the TimkenSteel spinoff is completed on1 July, Timken's remaining three business segments will involve mobile industries, process industries and aerospace. TimkenSteel will be North America's only focused special bar quality steelmaker employing 3,000 people.
Combilift offers 18 base models and, on average, introduces at least one new model per year. Combilift focuses on the four-way and narrow-aisle materials handling sector and has more than 14,500 units in operation worldwide. The Combilift dealership network extends across more than 50 countries.
