KEYTROLLER'S VANGUARD (World's most accurate hydraulic forklift scale) is designed to provide accuracy to within .2% of the rated load (within 10# in 5,000# load - 4.5kg in 2250kg load).

HOW DOES THE VANGUARD ACHIEVE SUCH HIGH ACCURACY?

Most hydraulic scales weigh statically. The Vanguard scale weighs Dynamically. By weighing Dynamically and utilizing a solenoid controlled hydraulic bypass manifold module. The Vanguard Weighing system eliminates many hydraulic weight errors that are present in other weighing systems. The By Pass Module is mounted behind the mast on the forklift's firewall. When the weighing process is initiated Hydraulic fluid (under pressure from the load) bypasses through the module where the pressure sensor reads about 150 pressure values per second over a 5 second period. As the load slowly lowers about 12 to 14" over the 5 second period. Hundreds of pressure readings are averaged by the device and the Vanguard displays an accurate weight. (Conventional single pressure reading scales are subject to considerable error from-valve opening/closing technique, tilt, lift height, bearing hang-ups, etc.)

HOW DOES THE VANGUARD WEIGH A LOAD?

The load is raised approximately 2' (60cm) above the ground. Operator presses ENTER button on LCD display and solenoid in bypass module opens. This allows hydraulic fluid under pressure to flow through the bypass module while the forks slowly lower to near the floor. At this point the solenoid closes, forks stop lowering and the driver has his weight on the LCD display. Takes about 5 seconds.

HOW DOES THE VANGUARD HYDRAULIC SCALE COMPARE TO LOAD CELL FORK OR CARRIAGE SCALES?

Load cell fork and carriage scales are typically accurate to within .1% compared to the VANGUARD system's .2% accuracy. This is nearly as accurate as a load cell scale which are typically at least twice the price.

CAN THE VANGUARD BE DAMAGED IN TOUGH ABUSIVE APPLICATIONS?

NO!! VANGUARD is a hydraulic scale and weighs using hydraulic pressure. The hydraulic pressure sensor is mounted safely in the hydraulic pressure line behind the mast---well out of harm's way.

CAN THE VANGUARD BE FITTED TO ANY MAKE, MODEL OR CAPACITY FORKLIFT?

VANGUARD is available with two size bypass modules. The "standard" module works on forklifts up to 10000# lifting capacity. The "high capacity" model works on forklifts above 10,000# capacity. Designed to fit to any brand or model forklift (electric or internal combustion).

WHAT KIND OF ACCURACY CAN I EXPECT TO SEE ON A 20,000# (9 METRIC TON) CAPACITY FORKLIFT?

Within 500# of any load you pick up. This does not mean it will be 500# off---it could be dead on or anywhere between up to 500# for any load handled. This is unheard of accuracy for a high capacity forklift.

WILL MY FORKLIFT LOSE LIFTING CAPACITY WITH THE VANGUARD? IS THERE "LOST LOAD CENTER" ON THE CARRIAGE?

VANGUARD looses NO load center and therefore no lifting capacity, which is often the case with carriage mounted load cell scales.

CAN THE VANGUARD ACCUMULATE MULTIPLE WEIGHMENTS? ON DIFFERENT CHANNELS?

Yes!! VANGUARD has a user friendly interactive LCD screen that makes the device easy to calibrate and operate. The device can log weighing events in up to 99 different channels with up to 99 different weighing events per channel. The 99 channels allow for totalization of all weights for a certain product, customer or trailer that show current load weight and total for all loads on that channel. The top number on the display shows current load on forks, smaller number underneath denotes cumulative weight on that channel.

CAN THE VANGUARD WIRELESSLY EXPORT LOAD WEIGHING TIMES AND DATA?

Yes!! VANGUARD has an optional Bluetooth point to point radio and WiFi network radio. The Bluetooth radio can be matched to our Bluetooth enabled thermal printer which will print individual time/date stamped weighments and also print a complete weighing report of multiple weighments per channel.

CAN THE VANGUARD BE SET TO READ IN METRIC OR IMPERIAL?

Yes, it can be set to display and print out in Kgs or Lbs.

CAN THE VANGUARD WORK WITH FORKLIFT ATTACHMENTS LIKE ROLL CLAMPS, ROTATORS OR SIDE SHIFTERS?

Yes!! VANGUARD is calibrated using a known weight being handled with the attachment. The attachment weight is figured into the calibration calculations.

DO I NEED A HIGHLY TRAINED TECHNICIAN TO CALIBRATE THE VANGUARD?

No! The calibration procedures are detailed in the manual. Keytroller customer support stands ready to assist with phone support. Most importantly, you must have an ACCURATE KNOWN WEIGHT! The device can only be as accurate as the accuracy of the known weight it is calibrated with.

DO I NEED A HIGHLY SKILLED MECHANIC TO INSTALL THE VANGUARD?

No! You primarily need a good hydraulic mechanic. Two hoses must be made up to connect the intake from the pressure line to the bypass module and a return hose from the bypass module to the hydraulic reservoir.
