TMHE launches first competition
Brussels, BelgiumToyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) has launched its first forklift design competition for European design students and 2013 graduates.
The theme of the competition, organised by the TMHE Design Centre, is 'Tow Tractors: Industrial Machines in Need of a Makeover'.
"We want participants to be inventive, original and daring in their creation of the tow tractor. We would like them to concentrate on the aesthetic value, but also consider today's materials handling challenges," says Magnus Oliveira Andersson, head of the design centre.
The winning entry will receive EUR4,000 (USD5,327). Registration closes on 14 September.
'Mission 25' challenge under way
Chesterfield, United KingdomMentor is marking its 25th anniversary this year by undertaking 'Mission 25', a challenge to raise over GBP25,000 (USD39,172) for charity.
All proceeds from the 12-month endeavour will go to five causes: Help for Heroes, Prostate Cancer UK, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, Children's Hospice Association Scotland, and Children in Need.
Mentor will make a donation for every training day sold between April 2013 and March 2014. The company's sales team will invite customers to match the donation when booking courses.

Ashwoods launches cost-effective motor
Stuttgart, GermanyAshwoods Electric Motors Ltd launched a low-cost, efficient and powerful axial flux permanent magnet motor for motive and industrial applications at Engine Expo 2013 in Stuttgart, Germany last week.
Ashwoods is supplying the new motor for hundreds of hybrid vans purchased by the UK public sector, through the Department for Transport's Low Carbon Vehicle Procurement Program. The company is also in talks with other vehicle manufacturers to supply its new motor for their products. The electric motor is now in full production at Ashwoods' assembly facility in Exeter, Devon.
RediRack expands with financial infusion
Mexborough, United KingdomRediRack has received funding that will enable it to construct a new innovation centre in South Yorkshire to house a range of test and research facilities to develop its automated materials storage and handling solutions.
The loan from Finance Yorkshire will also allow RediRack to expand its workforce, with new positions to be created in research and development, and production.
This is the second major financial boost RediGroup has received in 2013. Earlier this year, the group successfully qualified for a grant in excess of GBP1 million (USD1.6 million) from the UK Government's Regional Growth Fund
