Cat Lift Trucks and Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks introduced technically similar series of pneumatic-tyre diesel-powered forklifts compliant with Tier-4-final emission standards of the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Cat's new DP40N1-DP55N1 series is designed to provide customers with top performing and reliable forklift solutions, says Kent Eudy, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Cat Lift Trucks. The series takes "into consideration our customers' high expectations for increased productivity and performance as well as their businesses' demand for a lower overall operating cost".

Mitsubishi's new FD40N1-FD55N1 series "provides a lower overall operating cost by reducing maintenance and fuel consumption, while providing customers with increased productivity and performance", says Lucas Dumdie, product line manager at Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks.

Each new series with lifting capacity range of 8,000-12,000 lb. (3,600 kg-5,400 kg) utilises the model 854F diesel engine from Perkins Engines Co Ltd of Peterborough, England. The engines do not require any ash service and feature low-noise levels.

Both Cat and Mitsubishi anticipate introducing several additional internal combustion products during 2013 and 2014. Cat introduced its new series on 10 April, and Mitsubishi announced its series on 14 May. For each brand, the forklifts are their first to feature the new Perkins Tier-4-final compliant engine.

Cat Lift Trucks and Mitsubishi Forklift Trucks are operations of Houston-based manufacturing and distribution joint venture Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America Inc.
