Kalmar Industries has sold 14 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes to two major Red Sea ports, 10 for Jeddah's South Container Terminal in Saudi Arabia and four to the Port of Djibouti.

The orders strengthened Kalmar's presence in the Middle East, said Kalmar Yard Cranes vice-president Keijo Parviainen. Kalmar did not release the value of the sales.

"These latest orders reflect a growing trend that sees operators willing to invest in machines that deliver state-of-the-art quality, reliability and excellent productivity," he said. "Buyer-supplier partnerships and a high level of after-sales service are also becoming increasingly important deal-clinchers."
