South-west England forklift supplier Lift West Ltd and St Margaret's Hospice have joined forces to raise money in support of cancer patients.
The idea for the project came from Lift West managing director Andrew Whitehouse, after he visited the US and discovered a construction company and a breast cancer charity partnering for fundraising efforts.
Lift West has painted six Nissan counterbalance forklifts and two JCB teletruks pink. It says it will donate 10% of hire revenue to St Margaret's to help those with breast cancer.
The funds raised will be used to deliver specialist care to cancer patients from Somerset and its surrounding areas.
A Lift West spokesman says the project is ongoing and expects it to last for at least five years. "We plan to paint more [equipment pink]. We're thinking a Combilift, an Ausa all-terrain, an access platform and a floor sweeper," he says.
The amount contributed to St Margaret's so far is confidential.
