A European forklift dealer has had to cancel orders for the Mecano Continental machines it sold because it has trouble contacting the manufacturer.
"My experience is that they don't pick up the phone anymore. They don't respond to fax or email. So we had to annul sold machines and we have many customers with problems," the dealer tells
Forkliftaction.com News.
Another European dealer claims to be struggling to obtain parts for its trucks.
"[The service department said] we have been trying to get parts from Mecano for the last four weeks, and today we have been told that parts are not available. So we must draw our own conclusion from this."
Forkliftaction.com News has been unable to get hold of Mecano managing director Francisco Sanchez who said last month that the company "is open and continues serving parts and machine requests"
(Forkliftaction.com News #603).
Sanchez also said that production was slower due to the Spanish financial situation.
According to Sanchez, negotiations are under way to return to "normal activity". While he did not elaborate, there are some who speculate the 30-year-old company is in financial trouble.
The company's website was inaccessible on the day of this report.
