French manufacturer of rough-terrain forklifts and aerial platforms, Pinguely-Haulotte, claims the world market is on the up and up after significant increases in sales and revenue in the first half of the year.

The company reported sales of EUR127 million (USD154.5 million) up to June 30, a rise of 16 per cent over the same period last year.

Second quarter sales eclipsed the same period in 2003 by 7.2 per cent, reaching EUR74.2 million (USD90.3 million). The company said it received 20 per cent more orders in the first half of 2004 compared with the same period last year.

"Considering the significant increase of production levels achieved during the second quarter, and in spite of the persistent weakness of the USD and the rise in steel prices, the group confirms its objectives of EUR280 million (USD340.6 million) turnover, and 5 per cent net income in 2004," the company said.
