Manitou's expanded Yankton siteManitou Group has opened a 75,000 sqft. (7,000 sqm) expansion to its Yankton, South Dakota site which is dedicated to the production of telehandlers and articulated loaders, as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of the manufacturing facility.
The expansion of Manitou Group’s Yankton site follows the unveiling of an expansion at its neighbouring skid steer and track loader manufacturing facility in Madison, South Dakota a year ago.
One-third of Manitou Group’s US workforce is employed at the Yankton site which has 300 staff.
Manitou says the Yankton facility expansion is a USD20 million investment in “innovative industrial resources, such as a laser-cutting machines and an automated moving assembly line”.
Manitou vice president, Product Unit Compact and Articulated Loaders, Alexandre Caharel explains: "The expansion of our Yankton site, which is now 50 years old, strengthens our group's historic presence in the United States”.
“This is an important growth lever in a particularly dynamic market,” he adds. “This new industrial site will enable us to keep pace with this strong demand, while delivering ever greater added value to our customers”.
Manitou Group announced in February 2022 that it would invest EUR70 million (USD78 million) to expand the two South Dakota production facilities.
