Komatsu Forklift Europe was set up within the Japan-based Komatsu Group to produce forklift trucks that met European directives. The main head office is in Lainate, near Milan, and is structured around sales, marketing and after-sales services.

The company's Japanese head office began forklift production in 1945. Since then, the company has achieved continual growth by developing its markets in Japan, America, Europe and Asia. It has six factories globally: Tochigi, Japan; Bari and Luzzara, Italy; Covington, US; Bangkok, Thailand and Jining City, China.

Komatsu Forklift Europe supplies a complete range for materials handling: counter-balanced and warehouse forklifts.

The new AX/BX Komatsu range is certified in accordance with all European environmental and safety directives. All engines used fully satisfy Stage II requirements for emissions of pollutant gas. Komatsu products use a new cast aluminium drivetrain that ensures machine performance even in heavy-duty applications.

The company's growth strategy involves continual investment to develop "high quality products" and introduce and develop new technologies to improve industrial processes, expand in Europe and increase the number of authorised importers. There are currently 35 importers and over 450 dealers in Europe.

Komatsu's customers in Europe include companies like Alcatel, Guinness, Hull Docks, Port of Bar, SCA, ELPRECO, Nestlè, Kuhne & Nagel, Navartis and Excell Logistics.
