STILL and Dematic have automated CASA's new facility |
STILL, in collaboration with its KION group sister company Dematic, automated the new European distribution centre of the CASA International furnishing chain in Olen, Belgium. The project included a full analysis of the materials and information flow, together with planning and implementing an efficient intralogistics system.
STILL and Dematic combined seven automated STILL FM-X reach trucks and five automated STILL MX-X narrow-aisle trucks to create a warehouse shelving concept.
According to Luc De Boes, head of advanced applications - region BUS at STILL: "Operation of the material flow at CASA really is fully automated. Our STILL series production trucks were fully equipped with Dematic technology."
The driverless trucks receive their instructions from the Dematic Management Software for Driverless Transport Trucks (FTF), which is linked to the customer's warehouse management system, so they can drive and lift autonomously. They are also fitted with various sensors to avoid collisions and to guarantee the safety of pedestrians in the warehouse. Accumulator recharging is also fully automated.
