Tampa, Fla. -
Keytroller, the industry's leading and award-winning designer, manufacturer and supplier of electronic safety and weighing devices, proudly unveils
ENGINE-SAVER. The advanced equipment engine protection system monitors critical engine functions and warns an operator of critical issues prior to the onset of costly engine damage and failure. This compact, easy-to-install system ensures engine protection by monitoring the equipment's oil pressure and coolant temperature - alarming an operator visually and/or audibly of issues. If the operator does not switch off the engine within 30 seconds of alarm, the system automatically shuts down the engine for additional protection. An optional warning and engine shut down feature is also available to prevent excess idling.
Features:
- Easy to install;
- Monitors critical engine functions;
Monitors oil pressure;- Monitors coolant temperature;
- Audible and visual warnings;
- Automatic engine shut down after 30 seconds, if problematic condition persists;
- Protects against engine failure caused by low oil pressure and high engine temperature;
- Model ES-662 reduces fuel consumption with auto shut down of idling engine in 1, 2, 4, or 8 minutes (selectable);
- Ensures that even if the daily checklist is overlooked, possible engine damage is reduced.
How it works:- If low oil pressure or high coolant temperature is detected, an audible and visual alarm is activated;
- If operator fails to turn off engine within 30 second alarm period, the system automatically shuts down engine;
- Operator can restart engine after auto shut down, but if issue persists, device will continue to shut down engine;
- Model ES-662 has additional auto shut down feature for excessive engine idling, reducing needless fuel usage.
Two models available:
ES-66: Detects over-heating or low oil level, and triggers an audible alarm / flashing beacon. Requires supervisor over-ride to reset.
ES-662: Same features as ES-661, plus automatic engine shut down for excessive engine idling after delay of 1 / 2 / 4 / 8 minutes. Requires supervisor over-ride to reset.
Kit includes:- Controller with indicator LEDs and adjustment pots;
- Connection cable to low oil pressure sensor (existing switch);
- Connection cable to high engine temperature switch (supplied).
Simple installation:- Mount controller to vehicle, preferably under dash, out of the weather;
- Connect low oil pressure wire to oil sending switch on engine;
- Connect engine temperature wire to coolant temperature switch/sensing unit on engine.
If you do not want to shut the engine down, "crawl mode" option is available. Keytroller's fuel solenoid, when actuated by a low oil pressure or high engine temperature event, will restrict fuel flow, allowing the vehicle to only attain a "crawl" speed. When the ENGINE-SAVER system receives a high engine temp or low oil pressure reading, it will remove the 12VDC supply from the pink and black wire and drop the solenoid - essentially, the solenoid replaces the relay. You can keep the relay and use its contacts to switch the fuel solenoid. The drawing below shows the how the relay could be connected. Cycling the supply to the engine saver will reset it.
