HAYLEYMEDIA welcomes you to the inaugural Materials Handling, Warehousing & Logistics (MHL) trade show. It's been a long time in planning, but this time the show organisers believe they've got it right. MHL 2007 will be an exciting event, showcasing in-plant materials handling and logistics technologies to those in the warehousing and distribution industry.

Specialist companies from throughout New Zealand will present their products and services, providing the opportunity for show visitors to talk to colleagues and meet face to face with new and familiar suppliers. "Exhibitions are the only means for industry professionals to research new products and services whilst examining them in a neutral environment," says Regan Matthews from HAYLEYMEDIA. "Key buyers need advice and knowledge - they need to able to talk one-on-one with experts - and MHL 2007 is the only show dedicated to materials handling, warehousing and logistics in New Zealand."

The event will be held at the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane, Auckland, on 11 and 12 July 2007, and coincides with the inaugural ISN Safety Show and the New Zealand Safety Council Conference, at which safety products and services from New Zealand's leading suppliers will be on display, complemented by occupational safety and health professionals who will be on hand to help solve problems and offer solutions.

"We believe the joint offering of MHL 2007 and the ISN Safety Show will provide the ideal 'one stop' opportunity for visitors from a wide range of industry sectors," says Andy Hobbs, managing director of HAYLEYMEDIA.

Interlogic and Kerrect Logistics Centre
A live interactive theatre will be the highlight of MHL 2007 - the first of its type in New Zealand. Essentially, this is a live 'play' with a number of characters (products) operating in sequence. The scene is a mini version of a warehouse, which will be permanently set up for the duration of the show, and will feature warehousing innovations at work, not just in a static display.

"The purpose of this kind of demonstration is to encourage visitors to try out new technologies in their workplaces," Mr Matthews says. "Examples of products/services to be demonstrated include bar coding, mobile scanning technologies, and voice picking. Show visitors will see smarter ways of streamlining receiving and placement of materials through to efficient order fulfilment (picking) of pallets, cartons and even small items.

"What makes the interactive theatre a unique showcase is the fact that it has been crafted by two leading logistics professionals - Scott Kerr of Kerrect Logistics, and Interlogic's Les Wootton. Together, they have blended a range of technologies, advanced materials handling equipment and warehouse management software with best-practice techniques to demonstrate some practical examples of how to improve logistics."

Nine theatre 'acts', narrated by a commentator, will display the latest innovations in forklifts, high-level order picking and racking equipment, pick-to-light and pick-to-label systems, voice picking and batch picking of orders, and conveyors and sortation options for cartons.

Exhibitor Previews
GS1 (Stands 203 & 254)
There's never been a more interesting and fun way to discover how the supply chain works than to experience the GS1 Supply Chain Knowledge Centre. GS1 New Zealand has committed heavily to MHL and is bringing to NZ for the first time, the 'GS1 Supply Chain Knowledge Centre', kindly on loan from GS1 Australia. There's no doubt that this 1st time opportunity will offer one of the most interactive, innovative and educational exhibits at MHL. The Supply Chain Knowledge Centre was designed to demonstrate the two supply chains - the logical supply chain and the physical supply chain linked and supported by GS1 Standards, working together to create integration between trading partners. Visitors to MHL will be able to experience the Supply Chain Knowledge Centre for free and take part in some or all of the six modules offered under The Chain Reaction Program.
Modules include:
Introduction - The journey to supply chain excellence
Standards - Adopting the language of the supply chain - the GS1 System
Processes - Linking workflow and information flows
Organisation - Manage people, skills and changele 5du
Technology - The right tools for the trade
Integration - Gearing up for growth

Each module runs for approximately 15 minutes and can operate independently giving participants the flexibility to opt out at any stage. A minimum of four participants is required for each module but many more observers can join in - the experience is likened to taking part in a game show, lots of fun and interactive learning - all without the risks and costs associated with real world experimentation.

GS1 staff will be out in force at MHL recruiting willing participants and observers to get involved in this unique user experience.

Don't miss out on this opportunity, be sure to come and check out the Supply Chain Knowledge Centre and GS1 NZ occupying stand no's 203 & 254.

Mouats Engineering Ltd (Stand 243).
Totally new concepts rarely arise in the mature field of solids handling. Until recently, the vertical transportation of bulk materials has been by bucket elevators, special belt conveyors, chain and flight machines, screw elevators, aero-mechanical conveyors (disc and wire) and various types of pneumatic systems. A new development that exploits a fundamentally different elevating mechanism by rotating a tubular casing around a static helical screw is establishing itself as an advantageous alternative to some of these devices. This innovative concept enlarges the scope of selection for those involved with bulk solids handling by overcoming many of the operational, installation and product-related drawbacks and limitations of conventional machines. It equips industry with a new versatile tool, a vertical elevator for bulk materials that has various unique characteristics, including the ability to be used directly as a variable rate feeder. Mouats Engineering Ltd have been appointed as licensed manufacturers of the Olds Elevator in New Zealand and will be displaying this new conveyor at MHL 2007.

Pallenz Plastics (Stand 224)
Pallenz Plastics will be offering a very innovative approach to MHL 2007 by bridging the gap between science fiction and reality, and with huge applications in logistics and security. Make sure you don't miss out on being one of the first to preview this new technology at the Pallenz Plastics stand, MHL 2007.

AB Equipment (Stands 183, 222)
Showcasing at MHL is the new Toyota Series 8 forklift range form AB Equipment. Toyota has recently launched a new advanced range of forklifts, with increased safety and ergonomics, reduced operating costs and greater environmental friendliness. From the time Toyota introduced their first forklift, the company has continually focused its technology and know how on creating forklifts that handle loads safely, efficiently and reliably with a minimum of operator effort. In conjunction with Toyota Motor Corporation have introduced the latest advance in forklift technology with the launch of the new Toyota Series 8 forklift range to the New Zealand market. "The previous Toyota Series 7 lead the world with its technologically advanced System of Active Stability," (SAS) says Scott Carrick, AB Equipment, General Manager Sales and Marketing. "The Toyota Series 8 has been developed to increase this excellence to an even higher level and continues to be the forklift of choice in more than 70 countries around the world". Safety features of the Toyota Series 8 range include Toyota's System of Active Stability (SAS) and Operator Presence Sensing (OPS) as standard equipment. SAS was a world-first innovation, which assisted the operator in preventing forklift tip-over accidents and spilt loads. With the Toyota Series 8 the company has been taken SAS a step further with the introduction of optional features such as travel and load handling control. Toyota also has OPS on its Series 8 forklifts, designed to prevent accidental movement of the forklift when the operator is not seated at the controls. This is an important feature from Toyota that provides an even greater level of safety for the forklift operator and for those in close vicinity. AB Equipment's Scott Carrick says "The new Toyota Series 8 internal combustion counterbalance forklifts will initially come in a range of petrol/ LPG models from one to 3.5 tonnes including compacts".
