KAUP recently exhibited at the SKLAD Fair in Moscow which attracted exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. Holger Kaup, Managing Director of the family run business, stated that "the forklift truck industry in Russia is growing rapidly and opportunities in the whole of Eastern Europe are extremely promising. KAUP is already recognised by local and renowned forklift truck manufacturers as a reliable partner. It was important for KAUP to present their attachments at this fair and great interest was shown". KAUP was one of nine German Companies taking part in the
15th International Specialized Exhibition for Storage, Transporta-tion and Logistics. Germany is a leading importer of goods to Russia and is profiting from investments made in the Logistic and Storage sectors. Wherever a new production or building project is set up, forklift trucks and consequently specialized attachments are required.
The requirements of customers in Russia and other Eastern European countries are handled by native speaking salesmen based at Head Office and in Bulgaria. KAUP is now looking to set up a local sales force in Moscow and suitable candidates are already being interviewed. "We need a competent partner on hand in Moscow to deal with the growing demand" stated Uwe Killmann, Export Manager of KAUP.
The 40.000 units manufactured annually at the main plant in Aschaffenburg Germany are marketed around the world through seven European branch companies and an international network of 18 representatives. With an increase in production space in Aschaffenburg and the opening of a new manufacturing plant in China, specifically for customers in Asia, KAUP is meeting the increasing demand for high quality attachments.
Innovation is a firm part of the KAUP tradition. The history of KAUP began in 1894 when Peter Kaup set up a village blacksmith's shop in Leider, close to the German city of Aschaffenburg. In the sixty's Otmar Kaup, a former designer of forklift trucks, gave the company a new direction by beginning with the production of attachments as well as container spreaders and stationary equipment. This idea of greatly extending the use of lift trucks through purpose-built attachments lead to the name of KAUP becoming known, recognized and respected far afield.
The dedication to always supply the optimum solution for the customer's material handling requirement guaranteed continual growth in the following decades so that the company has developed into one of the leading manufacturers of attachments for forklift trucks. KAUP know-how has played a prominent role in forklift trucks today being capable of performing the widest variety of handling tasks. Many of the designs long established in the field of material handling show our handwriting and KAUP remains a driving force behind significant developments in the industry.
