Kalmar will now sell its cargo-handling equipment direct to customers, breaking ties with NTP which will focus on Jungheinrich, Manitou and TCM equipment.

Kalmar, part of Cargotec Corporation, is in the process of transitioning to a direct sales and service model over the coming months.

Michael Wahab, director, Kalmar Mobile Equipment, has paid tribute to current Kalmar Australia dealer NTP, saying the new sales arrangement was only possible due to NTP's "heavy lifting" in the marketplace.

"NTP has helped position Kalmar as the leading provider of reachstackers, forklifts and container handlers in the Australian market, and we are very appreciative of their hard work to date," says Wahab.

Under a new arrangement, Kalmar executive Shaun Lawlor will head up sales, and Anthony Pol will take charge of service.

Lawlor says Kalmar customers could expect a seamless transition. "We'll be dealing directly with our Australian customers for both product and parts sales, which simplifies the sales process and also allows us to maintain maximum value for customers and ensure we live up to our promise of world's best practice in container handling solutions."

NTP Forklifts Australia, part of Jungheinrich Group, will strengthen its focus on the core brands which it sells and services in the Australian market through its direct sales network.

NTP will remain an official service partner for Kalmar products.

"We are proud to have been a part of the Kalmar success story over the last four years and look forward to this as an opportunity to focus more on our core product brands -Jungheinrich, Manitou and TCM," says Michael Ankrett, product manager at NTP Forklifts Australia. "Our customers can expect from us maximum performance from our industry-leading products and solutions."

Words of support …

These releases in Forkliftaction are a nice experience for SNDC... We got seven inquiries coming from Canada, USA, Mexico, Israel and Australia (five from retailers, two from machines manufacturers) and we are still in contact with them. I can state that's a success story!
