Consolidated Fork Truck Services (CFTS) reminds UK forklift buyers to seek thorough examination certificates when considering forklift purchases.

CFTS said in a statement that it had received reports some dealers were supplying forklifts without providing thorough examination certificates, which are a UK legal requirement.

"The annual thorough examination is an important legal requirement, much like the Ministry of Transport test for cars and vans, and confirms that equipment is safe to use (Forkliftaction.com News #212).

"Companies operating trucks without up-to-date certificates risk their employees' safety and face prosecution by the Health Safety Executive."

CFTS chairman Steve Hodkinson said the first thing buyers should look for was a thorough examination certificate. "Don't take the dealer's word for it. Insist on checking the certificate and take a copy," he said.
