The Port of Limburg, an inland container terminal due to begin operations in 2025, has ordered two Kuenz rail-mounted gantry cranes (RMGs).
When the RMGs are delivered in the first quarter of next year, the port will have nine intermodal cranes in operation.
Port of Limburg chief executive officer Benjamin Hermans says: "Port of Limburg has chosen Kuenz because of their high-performance equipment and ability to offer the technical solution we needed.
“Also, the professional approach during the project management trajectory has definitely contributed to our choice for Kuenz.
“We are fully confident that our partnership will succeed and look forward to seeing our new cranes in action soon."
The dedicated container terminal, which will have a total capacity of 353,000 TEU, is situated along the Albert Canal on the 24-hectare former Ford site in Genk.
The Port of Limburg will offer very frequent connections to and from the maritime terminals at the ports of Antwerp, Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.
