One of JCB's largest machinery dealers has invested GBP1.5 million (USD2.5 million) to expand its headquarters.
Greenshields JCB has extended and completely refurbished its premises in Farnham, Surrey, creating additional open-plan offices, warehousing for parts and an additional acre of yard storage for customer machines.
The new premises were officially opened by JCB Group CEO Graeme Macdonald, who says it is important for JCB dealers worldwide to invest to support the machinery manufacturer's global growth plans. "Greenshields JCB's investment is exactly what is needed to ensure we win more business in the competitive UK market."
Greenshields JCB managing director George Greenshields adds: "I am proud to have been associated with JCB for over 35 years, both as an employee and as a JCB dealer. This business has succeeded by establishing excellent relationships with international, national, regional and owner operators... We are confident as a business, having doubled our turnover in the last five years, and with this investment, we plan to do the same again in the next five years."
Built to exacting JCB corporate dealer standards, the new complex stands on a 2.8 ac. (1.1 ha) site. According to JCB, the move comes as the UK market for construction equipment booms, with total sales up by more than 50% compared to last year.
Greenshields JCB was established in 1996 and, with seven depots in Surrey, Essex, West Sussex, Hertfordshire, Hampshire and Kent, is now recognised as one of the world's largest JCB dealers. Of 135 employees, 55 staff are based at Farnham and there are 51 engineers including apprentices across the depot network. The company provides sales, service and support for the full JCB product range.
