Today marks Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD), with the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA) hosting an online showcase to highlight the industry and its participants.
Activities include a live stream by CEO Ross Moloney and presentations from LEEA's technical team. The Association's End User Guidance training will be introduced, with a couple of mini-sessions being run. LEEA will also premier two films: a short introduction to the Association and an animated film explaining the COPSULE.
When the event made its debut last year, Moloney said it was aimed at attracting the next generation of recruits into the sector.
There was also a focus on the importance of using high-quality suppliers and getting policy makers' support and recognition of the role the industry plays.
"All too often, our industry is hidden, ignored or unrecognised by end-users and certainly by some of the supply chains that we serve," Moloney said.
"Global Lifting Awareness Day is about getting the whole industry and the associated supply chains to recognise the importance of high standards in lifting, the significance of quality and how to ensure lifting best practice."
