The FUTURE OF LOGISTICS - International CeMAT Conference is being held the day before CeMAT - on 26 May 2008 - at the Hannover Exhibition Center in Hannover, Germany. CeMAT, which will take place from 27 to 31 May, is the world's leading fair for intralogistics.

The FUTURE OF LOGISTICS conference picks up on topics that will shape the future of the worldwide logistics sector for the next generation. It is aimed at a select group of some 300 international high-profile figures and top-level managers from government, business and scientific circles.

FUTURE OF LOGISTICS will look in close detail at themes that will shape the logistics sector up to 2025. It will analyze how globalization is impacting on economic, technological and social issues, and focus on ecological aspects such as scarcity of resources and climate protection. Internationally renowned speakers, including Dr. Christian Ketels (Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness / Harvard Business School), Prof. Prashant Yadav (MIT-Zaragoza), Anil Soni (William J. Clinton Foundation), Prof. Anil K. Gupta (Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad - IIMA) and Prof. Steven A. Melnyk (Michigan State University), will join with the conference participants in discussing megatrends that the logistics sector will be faced with in 2025.

From 1 March to just a few weeks before the start of the conference, registered participants will have the chance to help determine the key topics and themes to be treated at the conference by taking part in an exclusive, real-time online Delphi study. At the conference, they will then have the opportunity to discuss the selected topics with experts. The conference will be followed by the CeMAT Opening Ceremony, attended by prominent guests including the Premier of the State of Lower Saxony, Christian Wulff, and the German Federal Minister of Economics and Technology Michael Glos. At the Opening Ceremony, Dr. Christopher Jahns, Rector of the European Business School, and Christoph Hahn-Woernle, Chairman of the CeMAT Executive Committee, will ensure that ideas generated in the conference are communicated to the CeMAT community.

FUTURE OF LOGISTICS is organized by Deutsche Messe, Hannover. The Supply Management Institute (SMI) of the European Business School (EBS) in Oestrich-Winkel/Wiesbaden, an institute for strategy aspects, purchasing, logistics and supply chain management with locations in Moscow, Shanghai and Bangalore, is tasked with planning the conference and providing scientific expertise. The SMI draws on the experience of a committed concept group, contacts on a high-profile conference board, and support from the German Engineering Federation (VDMA).
