Free forklift seminars will be on offer at the Sydney Materials Handling Show at Sydney Olympic Park on 25-27 October.
Topics include licensing, warehouse management and safe practices.
The seminar program operates across the three days to give visitors an opportunity to attend as many presentations as possible.
The first seminar will be presented by Steve Hughes, of AIMM Industrial Training, on the current forklift licensing system and the new one that will be implemented from 1 January as part of the national work health & safety harmonisation program.
Paul Bennett, of Adaptalift Hyster, will discuss renting versus buying forklifts, including cash flow, flexibility, budgeting, upgrading equipment and the advantages of off-balance-sheet financing.
David Greenfield, of Pulse Logistics Systems, will present on the benefits of using an advanced warehouse management system.
Graham Eastick, from Display & Storage, will discuss various storage system options. Peter Blayney, of Bluetron, will speak about verification of competency as a tool for meeting duty of care obligations, taking into account the premise that duty of care obligations extend further than the performance of high-risk work.
Peter Hunt, of Whamcorp, will present on 'Warehousing distribution and dangerous goods - What do you need to know?'
Safe Work Australia will hold seminars on the status of work health & safety harmonisation across Australia.
WorkCover NSW will hold workshops on occupational health & safety, workers' compensation and injury management.
The show is co-located with the Safety Show Sydney and Bulkex.
