Rail Hub Milano receives reachstackersNorthern Italy’s main intermodal terminal, the Rail Hub Milano, has received two new reachstackers from CVS Ferrari, which are being used for handling containers, swap bodies and semi trailers.
Rail Hub Milano (RHM), owned by the Contship Group, says the investment in the reachstackers is part of a broader strategy for the development of the terminal.
The first reachstacker arrived at RHM in December 2024 with the second arriving in recent weeks.
RHM states the reachstackers are more advanced than previous models, “including all hardware systems that allow the reach stackers to interconnect with management software and increase productivity by enhancing automation”.
Both units are equipped with an automatic fire suppression system.
RHM says the high-efficiency engines with specific energy optimisation functionality, reduce fuel consumption by up to 25%.
Stefano Morelli, managing director of RHM and director of intermodal operations with Contship, says the purchase of the reachstackers “represents an important milestone for the development of our activities, where fleet renewal is a strategic element ensuring increasingly efficient operations across all phases of the supply chain”.
“These next-generation machines allow us to speed up handling operations and improve the quality of service offered, better meeting customer needs while placing a strong focus on our operators,” Morelli continues.
