Chilean terminal invests in equipmentChile’s San Vicente Terminal Internacional (SVTI) has announced it is investing USD12 million to modernise its equipment including the purchase of nine 16T capacity forklifts and seven 43T capacity reachstackers.
The investment will also see the acquisition of 23 new 80T capacity Terberg terminal tractors and a Liebherr LHM/600 mobile harbour crane with a reach of 61m.
The brand of forklifts and reachstackers was not revealed.
SVTI’s general manager, Juan Pablo Santibáñez, highlighted the importance of this investment for the terminal’s growth.
“These equipment upgrades reinforce our commitment to modernisation and operational reliability,” Santibáñez says. “They will allow us to meet our customers’ needs more efficiently, optimise processes and continue to consolidate our position as a key player in the port industry in south-central Chile.”
SVTI says an increase in its volume of containerised cargo in the last year has allowed it to strengthen our strategic position in the region and promote export processes to global markets.
SVTI is located 500km south of Santiago and primarily services southern Chile’s forestry, fishing and agricultural industries. It is part of Hanseatic Global Terminals, a Rotterdam-based group which manages a portfolio of 22 port terminals and logistics services in 12 countries and five continents.
