A 41-year-old man has been charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding after leading police on a 90-minute low speed chase in a forklift in Illinois, WBBM Newsradio reports.
Macon County’s Sheriff Jim Root called the chase “one for the record books” because it was the first time the county’s deputies had chased a forklift, although they had pursued golf carts in the past.
The police chase, which lasted for almost 90 minutes, covered a distance of 10 miles (16 km) from Warrensburg to Decatur, according to the news report.
The chase ended when the forklift driver finally stopped in the carpark of a Caterpillar plant.
He was arrested and charged with numerous traffic violations, as well as aggravated fleeing.
