The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) has revamped its website, making it easier for users to navigate and to search for useful information.

FLTA chief executive David Ellison says one of the most important developments of the association's web portal is the 'find a member/service' facility.
"We believe forklift users should always seek suppliers who are FLTA members. The fact that our members have all agreed to abide by a strict Code of Practice and are kept up to date on safety legislation and best practice gives immediate piece of mind," he explains.

Potential customers can insert their postcode and search for a forklift supplier within 20 miles (32.2km), 40 miles (64.46km) or 60 miles (96.5km)of a location. A list of FLTA member companies will be presented in order of the closest first.

Similarly, users can search for companies accredited under the UK materials handling industry's national accreditation scheme, CFTS, to deliver thorough examinations. Other searchable companies include manufacturers or distributors of particular forklift brands of ancillary products and service providers.

The site contains a legislation and advice section where visitors can download FLTA fact sheets and a list of relevant publications from the Health and Safety Executive and other organisations.

Another feature is the 'Virtual Risk Manager - FLT', an online reassessment tool for forklift operators created by Interactive Driving systems. The tool is used to identify operators' weak areas allowing employers to plan training effectively and economically.
