What is the minimum legal age to drive a forklift? If you're not sure, the UK Fork Lift Truck Association's (FLTA) new FAQ resource could help.
The FLTA is creating an online library of fact sheets to answer important and frequently asked questions. The answers are organised under headings, like operator selection and training, maintenance, and thorough examination. The aim is to provide accurate, authoritative advice on legislation, best practice and safe operations.
The first batch of fact sheets is available for download now at
www.fork-truck.org.uk. It answers questions like 'what is the maximum gradient for a forklift?', 'what is the minimum age for operating forklifts?' and 'how long does a forklift driver's licence last?'
The sheets can be printed and distributed by engineers and salespeople to forklift users.
FLTA chief executive David Ellison urged forklift users to use the website's request form to let FLTA know what advice they needed.
"For the resource to be useful, it's important to know exactly what advice users need," he said.
