The Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas (EVAA) has announced the theme for the 20th Electric Vehicle Symposium (EVS) to be held from November 15-19, 2003, in Long Beach, California.
"EVS-20: Powering Sustainable Transportation" will gather together members of the international battery, hybrid and fuel cell electric vehicle industry, says a report in Electric Vehicle Online Today.
"This year's theme reflects the industry's focus on defining and building the infrastructure required to power battery, hybrid and fuel cell electric transportation options," said EVAA executive director Kateri Callahan.
"(It also) emphasises that electric transportation technologies represent a sustainable solution to providing the world (with) clean, efficient mobility that can be powered by renewable energy sources."
Bob Schomber, who is Florida Power & Light regional fleet manager and EVAA conferences committee co-chairman, said the event would showcase more than just light-duty and passenger vehicles.
"Electric transportation now comes in all shapes and sizes," he said. "There are electric shuttle and transit buses, electric airport equipment, forklifts, bikes and scooters, and even electric snowmobiles and boats available today."
The EVAA's 19th symposium is in Busan, Korea, from October 19-23, 2002.
