Lift truck driver, Seppo Tikkanen, moves stacked plywood boards to the production line. |
Kidex Oy is a Finnish company specializing in producing frames for the furniture industry. The factory is situated in Eastern Finland near the Russian border.
At
Kidex, lift trucks are used in heavy-duty applications, where durability is essential. Counterbalance trucks unload heavy packs of plywood boards, several meters long, from the lorries at the beginning of the production line and move the goods several times during the production process. At the end they transport the finished products, table tops and cabinets, to the warehouse and eventually to the loading area. Production must run smoothly at all times, so there's no room for any downtime.
During the recession the company faced severe cost reductions. Therefore, Kidex streamlined its operations, and specified forklift fleet, that needed to be, above all, reliable and cost efficient...
This is why Kidex chose a Cat DP55N, for its factory.
There are roughly 30 people working in production in two shifts. Nearly all of these multi-talented workers use the forklifts at some point. This means they have to be very ergonomic and easily adjustable for different users.
Production Director, Pauli Lyyluoma explains; 'Before making the decision to purchase this 5.5 ton diesel truck, it was tested by the drivers, who gave their input and this was reflected in the specification, for example; double tires, electric power steering and adjustable fork width'.
He praises the activity of the Cat sales team: "sales and service personnel are always locally available which means no interruptions to our business".
Now that this truck has been in active for almost a year, both the users and the management are completely convinced that it has fulfilled the high expectations of the professionals at Kidex.
